Why even good change feels funny….

Happy Tuesday!

I had lunch today with a client who is considering a major life change.  Our work together has taught me an astounding amount about life, and myself.  I really should be paying her.  As we navigate her brilliant journey, something has come up.  A great thing to question: Why is it that even when we are on our right path, on the express train to bliss, we can get derailed, sidetracked, or just feel bewildered.  How is that possible?  How can this be?  If we are following our "north star," shouldn’t it all be daisies and butterscotch?

The short answer-nope.  What happens when we evolve from a caterpillar to a beautiful, bootylicious butterfly, (ok, butterflies aren’t typically bootylicious, but mine could be…), is that there is some pain associated with the transformation.  The trip out of the cocoon involves some stretching and reaching.  As we move from taking an idea from thought to working to make it a reality, we just might get our wings clipped and need to try again.  This is the heroine’s saga….the minefield that you must walk through, however painful, to make it to your dream/goal/ideal life.

I encouraged my courageous client to not confuse this part of her journey, with the feeling that comes when you are on the wrong path altogether…the two are very different.  If you can imagine your goal already reached, and get into the feeling of how that looks and makes you feel, that will tell you if you are stressed about the goal you have set, or the work required to reach that goal.  My client caterpillar looked inside herself today (over a fabulous Greek salad), and realized she DID love her idea and dream for herself.  So now, my job is to help her with setting up an action plan to reach her goal, and sprinkle in enough motivation to keep it fun.  We’ll address her limiting fears and other obstacles to set a clear path.

My work is fun.  If you know someone who might benefit from my program, please email me at shyatt@insightbb.com.
